Description
ice sculpting festival in the mountain town of Cripple Creek, Colorado on the southwest flank of Pikes Peak at 9500 feet (2900 meters) above sea level. Each year, many artists from around the country descend on Cripple Creek to showcase their talents by carving ice statues out of blocks of ice using chain saws and other tools. This statue shows a Siren. In Greek mythology, Sirens were beautiful yet dangerous sea nymphs who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and songs to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. Sirens were the companions of Persephone, daughter of god Zeus. They were given wings by Demeter, goddess of harvest, to search for Persephone when she was abducted. DSC 4960 D7000

Amazing! LF. A puddle in my region is a diamond-like sculpture. Perspective...

Thank you, Mr. John. In about a month, we'll have another ice festival in the same place. I can't wait.
