This area, known as Windy Ridge, in Pike National Forest, is one of the most fascinating places you will ever visit. You'll see trees that are somewhere between 1500 to 2000 years old. I hope you get a chance to visit our neck of the woods some day.

If you have an iota of appreciation for the masterpieces of nature you WILL fall in love with the place and shoot like there is no tomorrow. So, bring at least a 16 GB SDHC card. 32 would be even better. There is soooooo much to shoot.

This is one of the most common sites around timberline (11000 to 11500 feet.) It's mind-boggling and fascinating how these trees have survived many centuries of some of the harshest conditions on the Earth.
