Description
I took this shot in one of the most fascinating places I've ever seen : Windy Ridge located at about 11,000 feet above sea level in Pike National Forest near Alma, Colorado.
Some of these ancient junipers are somewhere between 1000 and 1500 years old.
With an elevation of approximately 10,600 feet above sea level, Alma is officially the highest town in North America.

My favorite so far!

I thank you, beautiful Mariam, for stopping by and keeping in touch. I appreciate you, my lady. This area, known as Windy Ridge, in Pike National Forest, is one of the most fascinating places you will ever visit. You'll see trees that are somewhere between 1500 to 2000 years old. I hope you get a chance to visit our neck of the woods some day.

Oooh, gorgeous clouds here, Bijan, and what a cool crooked tree!!!!! :))))v
Bijan Pirnia replied:
I thank you, beautiful young lady. If there's one thing I wish for you right now is that someday you get a chance to visit this fascinating place. If you have an iota of appreciation for the masterpieces of nature you WILL fall in love with the place and shoot like there is no tomorrow. So, bring at least a 16 GB SDHC card. 32 would be even better. There is soooooo much to shoot.

This is very striking. I love how you lined the tree up to contrast with the clouds.
Bijan Pirnia replied:
Thank you, Chris. If you ever happen to be in our neck of the woods, let me know. I'd be glad to show you where this is so you can go take some shots of it. If you feel about nature the way I do, you will fall in love with the whole area and you'll shoot like there is no tomorrow.

Fabulous! Trees amaze me, they're so eloquent and fluid. L/F
Bijan Pirnia replied:
This is one of the most common sites around timberline (11000 to 11500 feet.) It's mind-boggling and fascinating how these trees have survived many centuries of some of the harshest conditions on the Earth.
